Am 9. Mai 1974 trat Bruce Springsteen als Vorband der Rhythm & Blues Gitarristin Bonnie Raitt im "Harvard Square Theater" in Cambridge, MA auf. Gemeinsam mit Garry Tallent, Clarence Clemons, Danny Federici, David Sancious und Vinni "Mad Dog" Lopez bestritt der Boss am frühen sowie am späten Abend zwei sechzig Minuten Gigs in Cambridge, MA.

Zum ersten Mal überhaupt wurden die Musiker vom Theatersprecher als BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & THE E STREET BAND angekündigt. Bruce Springsteen performte etliche Songs aus den Alben "GREETINGS FROM ASBURY PARK, NJ" und "THE WILD, THE INNOCENT AND THE E STREET SHUFFLE". Ausserdem stimmte er den von Leon René im Jahre 1946 komponierten Song "I Sold My Heart to the Junkman" sowie den Fats Domino Klassiker "Let the four Winds blow" an. Der Titeltrack des anstehenden Erfolgsalbums "BORN TO RUN" (1975) wurde zum zweiten Mal Live vor Publikum vorgetragen.

But tonight there is someone I can write of the way I used to write, without reservations of any kind. Last Thursday, at the Harvard Square theatre, I saw my rock’n’roll past flash before my eyes.
